Top Seven Movies You Need To Watch To Get A Better Understanding Of The Marketing World

There are many ways to better understand the marketing industry; for example, by reading articles/books. However, for people who don’t read much, I have compiled seven movies that represent the industry and its dos and don’ts, so here are; 7 movies you need to watch to get a better grasp of the marketing/business industry:

  • The Social Network – The 2010 film featuring Jesse Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield and Justin Timberlake is based on a 2009 book, The Accidental Billionaires, by Ben Mezrich. It portrays the upbringing of Facebook, how the idea was formed by Mark Zuckerberg when he was dumped by his girlfriend and created ‘Facesmash’. This movie is great if you want to know how one small incident can create a whole billion-dollar social networking app used by millions, it also demonstrates fulfilling people’s needs and wants by analysing statistics.

  • The Internship – This 2013 film starring Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson as salesmen who recently got laid off and attempt to work at Google. This movie portrays different interview stages at Google and how two teams compete to get a place at Google. Innovative, teamwork, and adapting are all keywords in this movie as they represent how crucial it is to have these skills in a dynamic industry.

  • The Intern – The 2015 film starring Robert De Niro and Anna Hathaway, follows a 70-year-old widower who wants to intern at a company due to boredom, he forms a surprising friendship with the CEO and the employees of the company and becomes an important member of the team. There are many scenes in this movie that portrays what it takes to be a great leader and advisor.

  • Not Okay – Not Okay is a 2022 American film starring Zoey Deutch as a fame-hungry individual who reaches her goal when a tragedy takes place. She is a photo editor for an online magazine and is a social outcast, to impress an employee, she fakes going to Paris where a shooting happens minutes after she posts an edited photo of herself there, this point is where her lies transgress and slowly show her that this luxury life is not for her. Although this movie shows the negative aspects of transparency on social media, it is a great techno movie to watch if you want to know about boundaries online.
